China Proposes to Footballers a 30% Pay Cut

It was already known, because the same Chinese federation had dropped it a few weeks ago, that the salaries of the footballers of the Super League, like those of other leagues, were going to suffer cuts. Well, now you know what the discount proposal is: 30%. All for trying to offset the economic crisis that COVID-19 will entail.

The federation is now waiting for a response from the clubs of the Super League (CSL), the Chinese first division and those of the two lower divisions, according to the People's Daily, the official press organ of the central committee of the Chinese Communist Party. "Once the opinions have been collected and examined, the Federation will speak to FIFA and other relevant bodies," adds the state media.

Recall that the start of the Chinese championship season, originally scheduled for February 22, was postponed indefinitely due to the spread of the new coronavirus, which appeared in Hubei province in December.

A new date has not yet been set for the resumption of the championship but, according to the Chinese press, it could start in late June.
